Introduction

Cloud computing has revolutionized the tech industry, and my journey into this field has been nothing short of transformative. From starting as a Database Administrator to transitioning into a cloud engineer, I’ve learned invaluable skills and developed a passion for building scalable cloud solutions. This post will explore how I got started in cloud engineering and the key milestones that shaped my career.

Getting Started in Cloud Engineering

Cloud engineering wasn’t my initial career path. I began as a Database Administrator, managing Databases, monitoring, optimizing and patching. Over a year, I noticed the growing demand for cloud solutions, particularly as companies started adopting services like AWS and Microsoft Azure. The allure of building systems that could scale globally with minimal infrastructure was too exciting to pass up.

First Major Cloud Project

My first big leap came when I helped migrate a legacy on-premise system to the cloud. This involved learning about network architecture, security protocols, and how to optimize for performance in a cloud environment. The steep learning curve paid off, and I eventually became the go-to person for all things cloud in my team.

Certifications and Growth

In the years that followed, I earned several cloud certifications, including AWS Solutions Architect and Azure Fundamentals. Today, I specialize in designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems and imlementing DevOps best practices. I enjoy teaching others about the endless possibilities cloud technologies offer.
